The One Health Central and Eastern Africa (OHCEA) www.ohcea.org, will hold its 2nd International One Health Conference http://ohconference.ohcea.org at Speke Resort Munyonyo 16-20 November, 2015 under the theme “Strategic Approach to Global Health Security through One Health Innovation: Vision 2035.” The conference will bring science, policy and practice together and aims at framing effective strategies necessary for prevention, early detection and control of emerging infectious diseases now and in the years to come.
The One Health Conference is organized around three sub-themes (listed below) with several topical areas under each (refer to sub-themes details under the program tab on the conference website).
• Emerging Diseases: Pathogens and their Interface.
• Innovative Multidisciplinary Intervention Strategies.
• Emerging Pandemic Threats Preparedness and Response.
The conference will bring together re-known scholars, One Health practitioners and policy makers, development partners, students from different disciplines in institutions of higher learning, private sector players to share experiences and craft recommendations to advance One Health approaches in the region. The scholarly work, development work experiences and recommendations drawn will inform OHCEA and partner’s work in building an effective One Health workforce in the coming years and will contribute to building One Health knowledge base that will be published and widely shared. The conference has been made possible through the support of the USAID EPT 2 One Health Workforce Project and other partners.
