Prestigious awards from the Makerere University School of Public Health
The end and beginning of 2019 came with good news where two RAN staff received two prestigious awards each from the Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) management.
Ms. Christine Muhumuza, RAN Research Manager was recognized as the female junior academic staff at MakSPH with the most scientific publications. She was given an award for having the highest number of publications in international peer reviewed journals in the year 2018.
Dr. Roy William Mayega, RAN Deputy Chief of Party was given an award of being the ‘Best Lecturer 2018’ as voted by ALL the students of MakSPH. This event took place during the End of Year Dinner Party, held on Tuesday December 18th 2018 at Skyz Hotel, Kampala Uganda. It was a great show of togetherness and happiness with big representation from the top Makerere University management team including Prof. William Bazeyo-Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Administration), Dr. Umar Kakumba-Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs) and Mr. Charles Barugahare-Makerere University Secretary among others. Some Makerere University partners were also in attendance including a delegation from Tsinghua University, Stanbic Bank and the whole MakSPH family.
In the same spirit, on the 4th of January 2019, during the MakSPH Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics retreat held at Serena Kigo Hotel in Kampala, the same two RAN staff received one other prestigious award each from the Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) management.
Ms. Christine Muhumuza was appreciated for her outstanding and dedicated work to the Department, School and University as a whole. She was appreciated for being an academic coordinator for the Masters of Health Services Research (MHSR) since 2013 to date.
Dr. Roy William Mayega was also appreciated for his outstanding and dedicated work to the Department, School and University as a whole. He was appreciated for being an academic materials developer designer and trainer.
