Makerere University School of Public Health – ResilientAfrica Network (RAN) recognizes the importance of partnerships & collaborations for leveraging resources, building power, strengthening the resilience of communities, innovation management process, and achieving meaningful impact and social change in communities.
On Monday 8th Aug the RAN Lab signed an MOU with NUCAFE which is an umbrella national farmers’ organization that currently connects farmers in the value chain from 188 member farmer organisations representing over 200,000 farming households in 5 coffee growing regions in Uganda that constitute over 1,000,000 individual farmers. We hope to tap into the large network of farmers to pilot and refine innovations such as the Solar Dryer, Solar Irrigation Pump, Savings Box and even promote diversification among others to build the Resilience of communities and also promote #Youthskilling #Jobcreation#Homegrowncoffee
National Coffee Farmers’ Organization and is a vibrant private sector led farmer organization formed to serve and position farmers well in the liberalized coffee value chain in Uganda. NUCAFE’s main focus is to establish a sustainable market-driven system of coffee farmer enterprises and organizations which are empowered to increase their household incomes through enhanced entrepreneurship and innovation. NUCAFE is an umbrella national farmers’ organization that currently connects farmers in the value chain. NUCAFE is empowering and organizing smallholder farmers using the farmer ownership model to assume more roles and functions within the value chain so as to ensure sustainable livelihoods, consumer satisfaction and societal transformation.
